TODAY'S
PHOTO -
a little egret in Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
One foot is on the ground,
indicating how low the water actually is here. The
other foot is on a fireflag bush branch. The green
"covering" in the water is duck weed,
a plant which prevents algae from forming.
I choose this photo simply because I like the feeling
of peace it seems to give off. To me there is a
serenity and patience in the bird as it rests or
"waits" for whatever. I'm thinking I should
bookmark this one to come back to when I'm feeling
edgy.

READER COMMENTS ON THE
LAST ISSUE - Issue
116
I really laughed when I read the following,
seeing how quickly Judith picked up and played with
the "Wood Knot/Would Not" theme yesterday
and curiosity is certainly one of my hot buttons.
"I see a small sailor on the left of the
hole -- almost like he is sitting staring at the
hole waiting for something to come out. He is thinking
"I wood not be here except I AM curious."
(lol) Judith
Tramayne-Barth.
Julie Jordan Scott posted her comments on the new
Picture
to Ponder Blog
"I wish that Mary had been able to see yesterdays
mouse [Issue
114 - or see BLOG] Maybe todays
mouse is more apparent. See him sneaking up to peer
out through the knothole to see whats
going on to the right. And no, I dont particularly
care for mice. The knot also brings back memories
of the knothole gang at the ballpark!"
Bob Tatem
Though I saw the mouse in Issue 114, I actually
could not see the mouse Bob saw in the wood knot,
even after writing back and forth. I did find a
tiny one in the left eye of the main face and I
did not check that one out with Bob.
I love the fun that people are having with the Picture
to Ponder photos.
"I see an image of a bird's head, but on
the right and facing right. The fact that the lines
resemble the "speed lines" comic artists
use kind of adds to that. A swift or a falcon. If
the image were rotated 90 degrees (so that the right
side became the top), I see another bird, this time
from above." Mary Gray
"For a minute I thought I was looking down
at the water while riding in a boat - the rhythm
of the waves was almost moving :~)" Debra
Schanilec
SELF-REFLECTING QUESTION
Debra's response reminded me that one of the things
that really appealed to me about yesterday's photo
was the overall patterns in the wood. And, I got
so focussed on the wood knot aspect of the picture
that I totally forgot the overall.
This brings me to today's suggestion. From time-to-time
today, and in the next few days, you might want
to step back and look at people, places and situations
with which you are involved. Are you so focussed
on any one thing that you might be missing the bigger
picture? [back to READER
