TODAY'S
PHOTO -
Sam and I cutting our wedding cake.
Given today is our 45th Wedding Anniversary I thought
it might be fun to celebrate with you by sharing a
photo from our wedding album. I chose this particular
shot because we both look so happy.
Though not photograped by either one of us, it is
in keeping with the types of photos we usually have
here. It does have flowers in it and the cake has
a nice smooth texture in and between the ripples of
the icing.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES
-
Today's issue comes to you on Saturday for two reasons.
I had several computer challenges on Friday and
then I found myself experiencing a lot of sadness
as I thought about our upcoming anniversary day.
Already I was projecting, that because of some of
Sam's health issues, with which I've had intemittent
low tolerance, it would not be the ideal day, the
way such a monumental occasion "should be celebrated".
Despite all of the transformational training I've
had, I find it so easy, sometimes to wallow in the
"what's missing," as I am sure that many
of you do.
And so, I'm flipping it and standing in the Hallmark
Greeting Card words that our younger son's wife
found and mailed to us early: "YOUR ANNIVERSARY
IS A DAY FOR CELEBRATION--a celebration of the love
that has kept you together...of the lives you have
touched and the people who have touched you...of
the good times you have had and maybe the hard ones,
too. IT IS A DAY TO CELEBRATE YOU--because in your
years together, you really have created something
rare and wonderful...a marriage and a family full
of love."
To this our son added in his own words, "As
we always say, you are great role models for all,
on what marriage is truly about. Although times
have been tough, your love for each other remains
as strong as ever...."
And, so I will chose to stand in the power and
the beauty of the two sons we produced and nurtured,
the wonderful wives they chose and the awesome children
that they are now raising. Sam and I have partnered;
we have created; we have compromised and throughout
it all we HAVE loved. And that love remains and
is the binding element for whatever we face together
now and in our future.
If you happen to be going through some troubling
times, in what place of empowerment can you stand?
as a PostScript - I was not sure whether this was
too personal a piece to send through last night
and so I sent it to a couple of friends and kept
it to read over today to make that decision. I will
conclude with a summary statement Mary Gray made
in her response to me. She wrote, "It's
your anniversary day. Doesn't have to be
a big deal. Just cherish each other."
So what and whom can you cherish this weekend? Go
for it and have fun.
PROGRAMS BY FRIENDS OF PICTURE
TO PONDER -
And speaking of our and PTP's
friend, Mary Gray, she will be leading an exciting
course, via email, in September on haiku. See DOING

with her, as she has been commenting on PICTURE
TO PONDER posts and queries since the beginning.
As an introduction to her love of haiku, Mary, will
be hosting a free Cafe Haiku chat today, Saturday,
August 27th at 3:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
Mary extends the following invitation to PTP subscribers:
"Come talk about haiku, share yours if you're
so inclined, and ask about my "Doing Haiku"
e-course. Simply go to ARTELLA
CHAT and enter the chat room. (back

AUDIO TESTIMONIALS
-
Check out the new 28
second message from Sondra, who shares how a
custom photo/drawing of her father, done by Sheila,
provided a major breakthrough for her in being able
to get past her many years of grief at his loss,
so that she can now enjoy photos of him.
Judith
Tramayne-Barth wrote to say, "When I wanted
to make an audio for Sheila, she made it really
easy for me. She called me and set up a 3 way call
so I could record how wonderful I think her ezine
is and her artwork. I am sure she will do the same
for you. And she didn't even mind the blooper I
made about her art site name. (LOL)."
Check out Judith's and other Audio Testimonials
on the new AUDIO
LINKS page.
I'd love to have your voice there also. A sentence
