TODAY'S PHOTO -
an opening gardenia on a large bush outside our kitchen window

The gardenia is one of my favorite flowers, quite possibly because of its scent, though I am not a perfume person. Would that I could also transmit the aroma with this photo.

I don't often photograph these flowers because I tell myself, "white does not photograph well." Today as I looked at the flowers and the lighting, I thought that it might work. The result was that I got a few good photos and had difficulty choosing which to use. I even combined this with another. Ultimately, after placing each and more than one on this page, the photo above seemed to give off the overall feeling of richness and elegance.

If you are curious about the others, see MORE GARDENIAS.

SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Because of the wide variety of projects I've currently undertaken, I am DEEP in noticing all the conflicting monologues that hold me back. Among other things, in addition to "white doesn't photograph well," is the "story" which I've had that because of the low pixel range on my digital camera my photos would not enlarge well for larger size prints.

Because of a business into which I'm looking and an upcoming show, I finally listened to two artist friends, took the plunge and invested in several prints on canvas - 16" X 20", not super large but larger than "should be" for "good" prints from my camera.
I got a few back, one 16" X 20"plus several smaller ones and they all look great. Four others went to Washington and I'm told they look "awesome."

Of course, the fleeting thought comes, what might I have lost by not listening to my friends earlier AND I will not dwell on that. It's gone and in the past. What it serves now is a reminder that I might NOT ALWAYS be the one who knows best.

Now, to you. Are there places in your life where people you know are holding you in a higher place than you perceive yourself? Are there things you might be doing that could further you, if you paused and stopped listening to all the negatives in your head? If so, I invite you to take what might seem to be a giant step and ACT-with peace. Be sure to acknowledge yourself for your courage and what you have done to let go.

May your discoveries be joyful ones!
