TODAY'S PHOTO -
a walker and a photographer at Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
"More photos of people" was another request
that showed up on the survey. This presents an interesting
challenge for me, in part because of concern with
model releases. Do I need them? When do I need them?
Also, to me it feels invasive to start photographing
people without their permission. In addition it
would become a whole different conversation and
shift in the flow from the ones where I am interacting
with Nature and then interacting with the people
I encounter around shared observations.
Interestingly, the camera is no longer the first
thing that comes out when I'm with our grandchildren
and then there might be an action or movement that
will catch my eye and I'll go for the camera and
start "shooting".
In the photo above one of the walkers at Wakodahatchee
was enthusiastically telling the photographer about
the woodpecker chick that was peeping out of its
nest. (See Issue
85 for the adult in the nest - a hole the parents
drilled into the tree).
For today's query, "What is it that attracts
you to people?" "If you were photographing,
what would you be looking for?" As I reflect
on this myself, I'm thinking that it's the emotions
reflected in the people's bodies and the postures
they assume.
If you are interested in more people photos in Picture
to Ponder, please e-mail
me and let me know what it is you would like
to be seeing.
READER COMMENTS ON THE LAST ISSUE - Issue
103
"Oh yeah - I would LOVE to have this wallpapered
on a room wall - that green would make me happy
all day long!" Debra Schanilec
"The vertical aspect
of the photo is the one element that really drew
me to it, the striving upward. Yet, as you say,
it's peaceful as well. Perhaps combining green and
vertical yields aspiration--calm intention rather
than frenetic action.." Mary Gray
And Neil Schneiderman wrote to thank me for
the "plug" and point out that, although
I had mentioned it, I had neglected to post the
link to his site. My apologies to him and you, if
you attempted to check out his book SECRETS OF THE
UNIVERSE REVEALED. Click on his name now to read
about it and him. See Neil
Schneiderman.
Speaking of Neil, he made a very interesting
observation and comment when elaborating on a survey
question. In stating that PICTURE TO PONDER... always
offers something wondrous to appreciate, he wrote,
"As you know, Sheila, it's impossible to
feel bad when you are appreciating. And appreciation
holds the same vibration as source energy and allows
well being to flow."
I am in several groups now where participants
have been posting daily gratitude lists. Neil's
observation on "appreciation" allowing
"well being to flow" gives me added
food for thought. What are you appreciating
today?
