TODAY'S PHOTO -
after it's prime - one of two roses that had been nestled in among the other flowers in a teapot arrangement that our "kids" who live close by gave me for Mother's Day this year. See ROSE AND CHRYSANTHEMUM

After I removed the "finished" roses from the arrangement I became fascinated with the loose petals of the first and then how long the second kept its shape and stayed on the stem. It naturally became a photo op for experimenting with different views and backgrounds.

I posted them on FlickR in a texture folder for our Photo/Creativity alumni group. Lindy Erwell, one of our, oftentimes, Blog respondenst said the one above was her favorite. I agreed and so give it to you today, with no further comments, so you can be with your own response, not colored by mine.

If you wish, you may see several more of the rose views by viewing the album I learned how to create in Photoshop Elements and then upload, so I could share more with you. See DRIED ROSES ALBUM. Click on the first photo to enlarge it. Then follow use the arrows to see the rest.

SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
I find it interesting that, unintentionally, following up on Friday's "corroded" theme, once again we have a "deceased" image. In today's instance, though, the whole environment of the arrangement of the flower and the coloring sets up a mood of beauty and an upbeat feeling.

We can, though, continue with the same query - How many of you would have simply tossed the rose without paying any, or much, attention to it?

As for me, I am sad that I had not paid any attention to it when it was in its prime. I'm not even sure of the original color. Was it, in fact, yellow, or might it have been white and is now "yellowed" with age?

I was more focussed on the teapot, which I needed and the reason my family chose that vessel. The arrangement is/was pleasant (still going, 2 weeks later), with white alstromeria, pink carnations and the fill-in heather and baby's breath. Yet, for me it was missing an undefined something in terms of inspiration even after photographing all sides. Maybe it's simply that it was very compact and symetrical, not my preferred style.

And, in terms of one more query, can you recall times, or see one now where you are/were not paying attention to pieces, which might be/have been important, simply because the whole of it is not drawing you in?

In summary for today, I am once more thrilled to have a Mother's Day memory in terms of a specific plant or floral arrangement that has been thoughtfully gifted to me by our beautiful and loving family, each of the four years we've been in Florida. They are all, of course, documented in photos, some of which have turned into photo/drawings and put on products in our gift shop.

As a postscript - I just checked the arrangement again. All white and pink, I suspect they were white roses. Yellow would not have fit.
