TODAY'S PHOTO
-
unidentified flower in Wakodahatchee Wetlands. (Subsequently identified by subscriber Janine Bacquie as Buttonbush - Cephalanthus occidentalis).
For my purposes I have been referring to this as a
pod flower. I loved the starburst effect of it, when
it first caught my eye last year. I followed the plants
last year and remember being disappointed when the
flowers died off.
Happening upon new ones on a walk last week I experienced
a warm feeling of pleasure and recognition. It was
like meeting an old friend and, for me, there are
many "friends" I have made with plants and
objects in Nature.
Several that I have saved, such as pieces of driftwood,
rocks or shells in my collection, are like old friends
with whom I can recall special times. Others have
been saved in photographs, allowing the same experience,
and then there are those live plants and objects which
remain in their natural places, growing and transforming,
inviting me to do the same with them.
What things in your life provide rich and fulfilling
memories and experiences for you?
A final observation/thought on today's photo. Looking
at the starburst, I'm seeing all the "petals"
energetically bursting forth, while at the same time
being anchored and secure at it's center.
What can you claim as your center today as you burst
forth in all of your activities?

"Thanks,
Sheila, for this page: http://www.eteletours.com/morikamifalls.html.
I loved going from the overall view down to the microscopic
view. It is similar to how we manifest our own goals.
We have an overall plan and then we break it down
into steps (or closer views) of how to get what we
want." - Judith
Tramayne-Barth, agoodread.com
"Never mind the "shiny" water to
the left and right, the part in the middle reminds
me of cobwebs. Or perhaps some kind of exotic moss."
Mary Gray
"Oh my - I can't help but see this as a rock
being slimed with some alien ooze :~)" Debra
Schanilec - This one set me back AND
I won't censor. It's simply the images I conjure when
reading "slime" and "ooze."
and then there was the one word - "Incredible!"
