Photoshop Elements 3.0 - Lesson 1 HOMEWORK

I liked the drama of the hibiscus and wanted something to set it off. The closest I could get for quick background was that in the Egret photo.

I used the magnetic lasso tool to separate the hibiscus from the yucky background in the first photo above, did some QUICK FIXING...most of it made this warm flower cool, then moved it to the photo with the egret. I had removed the egret with the lasso tool but wasn't necessary I found. I used the cloning tool to fill in in the upper right and to extend the flowers in the lower right.

I played with Quick Fix ENHANCE auto corrections and then ADJUST COLOR and the hue saturations on the background. I did some adjustments on the hibiscus also, before moving it.

I chose this Strangler Fig to work with because I thought I'd play with changing the colore of the tree. I did not find that option.

Before going back and rereading that the assignment was to use 2 tools from the HOW TO menu, I kept trying different ones. I, obviously, cropped the photo and then I used the HEALING BRUSH to cover the root near the lower right and bring over a light smattering of some of the green grass in the foreground. Also used the FILTER - SHARPEN/UNSHARPEN MASK.

I also used ENHANCE - ADJUST LIGHTING - SHADOWS/HIGHLIGHTS and with my name I used the SIMPLE PILLOW from the STYLES AND EFFECTS in the LAYER STYLES.
