Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
a Fireflag Flower on the top of a boardwalk railing in Wakodahatchee Wetlands and a Moorhen with an open tail standing in duckweed

As those of you who have been subscribing to Picture to Ponder for a while now know, I love the Fireflag plant for the flowers, the food of the Purple Gallinule bird, and for its large leaves and especially for the shapes they take when browning and dying off.

I find myself smiling when I look at the top photo. I see a creature with scrunched up face (in the flower), marching boldly, pink foot thrust forward. She is either very intent on the path ahead, or she's angry about something.

The widespread tail of the Moorhen in the lower photo caught my attention. I got a very cheerful, happy feeling when I spotted the splayed out feathers. He might be applauding the Fireflag flower for whatever she is up to.

Self-Reflecting Queries
Except for the fact that both were taken in Wakodahachee, and that they are both aspects of Nature, today's two photos are totally unrelated. I had intended to add a third and thought I would probably end up writing something about "just because..." -- that is, I was featuring them simply because I was. No deep reason.

Then I found myself rejecting the third photo because it did not "feel" right here. Once I inserted the two photos on this page I saw that, in fact, there are commonalities of color in each of the photos and there is a line movement that is similar in both.

Pondering this further, I begin to think of times that I might have rejected things, or people, because "they didn't fit" whatever/whomever else was in the same space or maybe they were not "how I wanted them to be." Perhaps simply stepping back and looking for the commonalities would have resulted in totally different results.

I invite you to re-look at areas in your life where things seem to be totally different and unrelated. What threads or patterns can you now find that are similar? Will the awareness of this give you a new power in the situation?

As always, have fun and play as you are making your observations.
